What is Yoga Nidra Meditation?

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as yogic sleep, is a guided mind-body meditation that gently guides you into a state of whole-body awareness for effortless relaxation and deep healing. As you enter this state, your body transitions into the parasympathetic nervous system, activating its natural healing mechanisms.

Yoga Nidra supports optimal health and well-being for everyone.  However, it is particularly beneficial for individuals who face a high level of chronic stress. Additionally, it offers relief for those dealing with sleep deprivation, insomnia, trauma, and mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

Yoga Nidra meditation can be experienced in any comfortable position, such as seated, lying down in bed, or on a yoga mat.  No yoga or meditation experience is needed, to enjoy the full benefits of Yoga Nidra.

There are very few practitioners offering Nidra and even fewer who truly appreciate its special value. Tianne knows from personal experience the gifts of this practice. And she joyfully shares her tool kit with those drawn to the style. A rare gift indeed.

No prior meditation experience is needed.  This practice is suitable for both beginners and advanced students.

You can either sit or lie down, it is totally personal preference. What is essential is that your body is supported and comfortable.

Research shows yoga nidra can safely and effectively  help reduce stress,  anxiety and depression . The yoga nidra meditation practice allows your body to enter a sleep-like state while also maintaining control of your consciousness. This allows you to not only deeply relax but also rewire your mind to think and even behave differently.

During yoga nidra, serotonin and GABA [two neurotransmitters that impact our moods] are released, producing anti-depressant and anti-anxiety effects. When practiced regularly, high levels of these neurotransmitters can be maintained, which will help your brain and body maintain mental and emotional well-being, nurturing a resilient foundation for overall wellness.
